GOD'S PROTECTION—HOW IT IS DEMONSTRATED

Christian Science presents to mankind an unfailing method of protection from sin, sickness, accident, and death. This method is based on an understanding of God and man as divine Mind and idea. The allness of God, good, establishes the nothingness of all that is unlike God, unlike good, Our protection from the claims of evil is therefore the inevitable result of spiritually understanding man's complete immunity from that which is not real.

Speaking specifically about sin, Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 115), "Your means of protection and defense from sin are, constant watchfulness and prayer that you enter not into temptation and are delivered from every claim of evil, till you intelligently know and demonstrate, in Science, that evil has neither prestige, power, nor existence, since God, good, is All-in-all."

The manner in which this protection is demonstrated in the experience of students of Christian Science at times involves specific protective work. For example, if some erroneous belief is presented to human consciousness in such a manner that an individual believes the error or discord to be a possibility in his experience, the need for work is evident. Both the belief and the fear of it must be overcome to bring to light man's spiritual nature and consequent immunity from error.
