A broken arm set properly; also glasses discarded
We read in Proverbs (3:5, 6): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." God beautifully directed my paths when He led me to Christian Science. For many years I had been seeking the reason for all the suffering and sin I saw around me. I had studied many religions, and then a friend told me of Christian Science. Through "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy I learned that God is Life, Truth, and Love, and not the creator of sickness, sin, and death.
Soon after I became a member of a Church of Christ, Scientist, I broke my arm. I went at once to a practitioner for help. This was most readily given, and all pain in my arm ceased. I was living with friends who were not interested in Christian Science, and they wished me to go to a doctor. They agreed that Science might heal some things, but certainly not broken bones. They spoke continually of the terrible consequences which would result from a broken bone not being properly set. The next time I went to the practitioner I told her that my refusal to go to a doctor was causing discord in our home. She replied: "Divine wisdom governs and guides us. If we seek that guidance, we shall do what is right. Go home and think of that."
I did this, and the next day I went to a surgeon. He said it was a bad break, but he could do nothing for me; that all was in place and going on nicely, and the arm was not to be touched. I returned to the practitioner, rejoicing because all fear had gone. In less than two weeks the arm was as strong as it had ever been. I am most grateful for this healing, for the loving help and guidance which were given me by the practitioner, and for the way in which I was able to do all my usual work at the church and at home during the experience.
