Magnifying the good or the real in thought brings freedom from fetters of error

"THE MICROSCOPE OF SPIRIT"

There is sweet promise for all in these words by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 264): "Matter disappears under the microscope of Spirit." Christian Science, basing its authority on the Bible, teaches that Spirit, God, is All-in-all. Therefore, Spirit must be the only reality, presence, or power. Thus matter, the very opposite of Spirit, is stripped of all pretensions of ever having been real, of ever having filled any space, or of ever having wielded any power.

It is a universal belief that man is made up of matter and is therefore subject to sin, sickness, lack, and death. Can this be true when we admit that God is the only creator, and that He is Spirit? No! His creation must partake of His qualities and be spiritual, even "very good," as the Bible declares.

The understanding of Spirit and its creation as revealed in Christian Science becomes a microscope which, when focused on the minutiae of daily affairs, discloses the nothingness of evil and magnifies all that is real, perfect, and eternal. Using "the microscope of Spirit," we find that daily existence is no longer a mere succession of mortal experiences, but a perpetual unfoldment of spiritual ideas. The daily acceptance and utilization of these spiritual ideas not only will bless us with health, happiness, harmony, and abundance, but will in turn enable us to bless others.
