Gratitude expressed for mental peace

I should like to tell of some of the many blessings, both physical and spiritual, that Christian Science has brought into my life during the past sixty years. I was a very small child when my parents became interested in this Science. A married sister who lived some distance from my father's home was healed of a severe case of peritonitis. After she had been confined to her bed for more than a year, a second operation convinced her doctors that she had but a short time to live. A neighbor suggested that she try "that thing called Christian Science," because he knew someone who claimed he had been healed by it. She was willing to try anything, so she got a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. In less time than the doctors had allotted her to live, she was completely healed by reading the book.

The first serious disease in my experience to be healed by Christian Science was a very painful skin trouble. Next were severe burns, the result of a power explosion. Several years later a condition developed that brought the last enemy very near. The difficulty was not diagnosed. No material remedy of any kind was used in healing these conditions or any other that I have ever had. I feel sure that had any compromise been made in the last-mentioned case, I should not be alive today. Many other discordant physical conditions have been healed, and for these healings I am very grateful.

While my gratitude for the physical healings is naturally great, it is surpassed by my gratitude for the spiritual and mental peace Christian Science has brought me. I have found a God who is available now and here, the God that Jesus knew so well and whose power he proved so efficiently.
