High fever destroyed when appeal is made to God for help

It is with profound thankfulness to God and great gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and founder of Christian Science, that I write this testimony.

Three years ago my little girl, then ten years old, suffered from typhobacillosis, with a fever which became very high. This fever continued for twenty-five days; everything possible medically had been tried, but with no effect. On the twenty-fourth day a distinguished specialist stated, after examining the child, that she could live for only two days. My husband and I did not accept this verdict, yet in my heart I suffered a great deal when I saw the child's condition, and I appealed to God for help.

That very evening Christian Science was brought to our home by a friend living in the same building. I had not known that this dear friend had been in Science for more than twenty-five years. She gave me a French edition of The Herald of Christian Science, which I read hungrily. My eyes were opened to the truth. I saw that God is Life and that because of this fact my daughter's life must be preserved. I entreated this friend to telephone and ask a practitioner to come to my daughter's bedside as soon as possible. The practitioner came the next day, the twenty-fifth, at eleven o'clock in the morning. The fever left my daughter ten minutes later. The healing was instantaneous: the child asked for something to eat and wanted to get up. This marvelous healing, to human sense miraculous, was verified the same day by the doctor, who came to make his usual visit. The child resumed her regular studies and has never suffered since.
