Signs of the Times
Dr. Edwin A. Brown in a column in the Marion Star, Ohio
The essence of prayer is communion with God. ... The supreme purpose of prayer is fellowship with God. It would be a low view of filial devotion to say that the chief reasons why a boy ought to have the privilege of talking with his father is to get some things from him. A boy needs to talk with his father just because he needs his father and his father needs him. So with prayer. Life can only unfold in its truest riches when we enter into fellowship with God. But having discovered that fellowship, all these good things come along in due course.
