[Original testimonies in French]

Christian Science first came to...

Christian Science first came to my notice several years ago. Although I read the Bible somewhat and was not an unbeliever, I was nevertheless distrustful of the various religious systems and remained aloof from them, thinking that God concerned Himself very little about man. I looked for equity in political and social doctrines and organizations, but found no satisfaction.

I might have been considered as among those seekers to whom Mary Baker Eddy alludes in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 570) : "Millions of unprejudiced minds—simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert—are waiting and watching for rest and drink. Give them a cup of cold water in Christ's name, and never fear the consequences."

The correct explanation of Christian Science presented to me by a patient who had turned to it wakened in me not mere curiosity but immediate conviction, although I had to struggle to acquire the facts of this Science. I hastened to read all that I could find in French concerning it. Then God was understood and faith restored.
