OBEDIENCE—THE OFFSPRING OF LOVE

Jesus said (John 14:23), "If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." What a glorious promise!

Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 117), "Obedience is the offspring of Love; and Love is the Principle of unity, the basis of all right thinking and acting; it fulfils the law." Christian Scientists, therefore, should love obedience and should watch that they are obedient to Love.

The Bible and our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, as well as the Manual of The Mother Church and our Leader's other writings, clearly set forth the spiritual laws and truths which we must obey if we would gain spiritual understanding. In these sacred writings the reward for obedience is vividly and practically illustrated.
