Christian Science came into my...
Christian Science came into my life at a time when I was extremely ill and had been given up by an eminent physician. I was healed of nervous prostration, heart trouble, yearly spells of hay fever, and many other ills. These healings came through my studying the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, attending the church services and the lectures, and reading the periodicals, especially The Christian Science Monitor. A testimony of these healings was printed in The Christian Science Journal of May, 1929.
When I was quite young in Christian Science, I was returning home with my two-year-old daughter after a wonderful afternoon visit with a friend who was a practitioner. While driving on a busy street during the supper rush hour, I made a left-hand turn, and the car door flew open. The baby rolled out into the path of oncoming traffic. I instantly knew that there are no accidents in divine Mind, and I felt very sure of God's protection and nearness. I drove the car to the curb, then ran towards the child, who was lying in the slush. I picked her up and walked back to the car. We sang praises to God all the way home, and all was well; there was not the slightest mark of any kind on the child.
When this child was born, eleven years after her brother, it was proved to me without any doubt that I was healed. I had gone from grief to joy, from pain to freedom, from sin to holiness. Since that time Christian Science has been our only physician. I have had to prove the nothingness of death and the needlessness of grief when dear ones have passed on. I can truthfully say that when my husband passed on, there was absolutely no sense of grief or separation. I was not so clear in my understanding of substance, but again through the teachings of Christian Science about God and man's relationship to Him, I have proved daily that God is our loving Father-Mother, and that what He gives, we have in abundance.
