The following quotation from...
The following quotation from the Bible (Ps. 34:7), "The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them," was given to me to memorize by the pastor of the orthodox church in which I had been confirmed. I did not know the true meaning of the word angel, but I felt very proud that I could tell the pastor I knew this Scriptural citation. But it was through Christian Science that I finally understood the real meaning of angels. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy defines "angels," in part, on page 581, as "God's thoughts passing to man." On page 299 she also says: "My angels are exalted thoughts, appearing at the door of some sepulchre, in which human belief has buried its fondest earthly hopes. With white fingers they point upward to a new and glorified trust, to higher ideals of life and its joys;" and on page 174, "But the angels of His presence— the spiritual intuitions that tell us when 'the night is far spent, the day is at hand'—are our guardians in the gloom." These and many other passages found in this wonderful book were very helpful.
I can discern how often through the years since then I have been protected by these "angels of His presence" from accidents, healed of illness, and lifted out of depression. I was also healed of grief when a dear one passed on, and I am very grateful to all the loving Christian Science friends who stood by and gave me of their rich treasures of Truth.
Some years ago I was healed of concussion of the brain, and not so long ago of a severe hemorrhage. Again a Christian Science friend came to my assistance with declarations of truth, and the bleeding stopped immediately.
