My family and I have been blessed many times as a result of the study and application of Christian Science, discovered by and revealed in the writings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

This Science first came to my attention after I had turned to God with a sincere desire to know Him and to be shown how to pray aright. Although as a child and young man I had regularly attended an orthodox Sunday School and later had become a member of that church, I felt that I was very far from God, and that my prayers were unavailing. At first I did not recognize Christian Science as the answer to my prayer, but after it had been presented to me many times by several individuals I began to see that this truth was coming to me as a result of my prayers.

When I applied for membership in a Christian Science church, it was pointed out to me that one who smoked could not qualify for membership. I asked a practitioner for help, and during one treatment I was instantaneously healed of all desire for tobacco. This healing has always been an inspiration to me because I had smoked incessantly for many years and had been unable to overcome the habit through either human will or other material means.
