Christian Science came into my experience at a time when I was physically and mentally ill, and fearful that I should have to have a medical examination, which I felt sure would lead to an operation. Although the first treatment I had from a Christian Science practitioner brought me relief and a great desire to begin the study of the textbook and to attend church services, I was not instantaneously healed. Even before my fear was cast out and the healing was complete, I had experienced so many blessings that I was sure I had found the religion I had long been seeking.

I have had many other healings through the years, among which are those of neuritis, headaches, extreme mental fatigue, faults of disposition, sorrow, and a sense of separation from loved ones. During the recent war, when it was necessary for us to move three times in a little over a year, the application of Christian Science resulted in the securing of adequate and comfortable housing in each town where we lived. I learned a great deal about true home during those months.

One of the most outstanding instances of protection we have experienced occurred in 1938 when we were in Boston at the time of a hurricane. We were out with others in a car, driving during the peak of the storm, and I shall never forget the peace that I felt in the midst of the surrounding confusion. We were completely protected, and later the only one in the car who was not a student of Science remarked that it seemed impossible the wind could have been as violent as reported.
