Christian Science had been in our home for some years, but I did not realize its value. While under medical care I was told that I must have a major operation. I was very fearful, and when I told my mother, she asked me to try Science. Although I did not feel it would help, I was willing that she have work done in Science to allay my fears. When I reported to the hospital it was decided that a major operation would not be needed. Later when I began to appreciate God's power, this experience gave me a great sense of joy and respect for the truth. Since taking up the truth. Since taking up the study of Christian Science wholeheartedly, I have been healed and blessed many times. It has helped me meet every experience with less fear.

Through the work of a practitioner, the smoking habit of over twenty years' indulgence was instantaneously healed with no discomfort or loss felt. This was accomplished when the practitioner asked me if I really wanted to be healed, and I replied, "Yes." Another time a cold was healed immediately and I was free. These two healings gave me the conviction to go all the way in fulfilling my desire to become a Christian Scientist.

During my three years enlistment in the Navy, this Science afforded me much protection, especially while traveling in a convoy through dangerous waters. I realized then that all the hours of study I had put in were bearing fruit. It also helped my companions who were fearful.
