Would You Keep the Passover?

The Sunday following the appearance of this issue of the Sentinel is known among Christian Scientists as Communion Sunday, for on that day, as well as on the second Sunday in January each year, is read the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly entitled "Sacrament."

Observance of the traditional Communion service in the Christian church stems, of course, from Christ Jesus' last supper with his disciples; but many people may not be aware that the Master, at this last meal with his followers, was celebrating the Jewish feast of the Passover. Therefore, the Christian of today in commemorating his great Way-shower's last supper is also keeping the feast of the Passover.

Is anything more inspiring and heartening than the story of the Israelites' preservation from the plagues and their triumphant exodus from Egyptian bondage? Thus the Jewish Passover celebrated first the saving of these people from disease and disaster, and their final deliverance from the cruel taskmasters of Egypt. Well did the voice of Truth, speaking through Moses and Aaron, proclaim (Ex. 12:14), "This day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations."
