Sunday School

Sowing for Today and Tomorrow

[Excerpt from an address given at a Sunday school teachers' meeting by a superintendent of a branch church Sunday school]

The work in which we are engaged, the teaching of Christian Science to the children, is of vital importance to our Cause. Our work well done is not just for the present; it extends into the future. In the Psalmist's words, it may be likened to "a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper" (Ps. 1:3). Thus the children in our Sunday School today will help to perpetuate the Cause of Christian Science tomorrow.

We may well ask ourselves, then, how we are to teach the children so that they will be firmly established in the truth. This question deserves all the prayerful thought that we can give it. We cannot pattern the teaching methods of other schools, because our work is on an entirely different basis. Other schools are working to instruct and improve the so-called human mind. Our school is working to make known the one infinite Mind, which is ever present and already knows all.
