I am profoundly grateful to Christian Science for all the comfort and joy it has brought into my life.
In 1939, when I was in great distress, which was seriously affecting my health, my mother came to see me and told me of Christian Science. She took me to the Reading Room, and a little while later I had the pleasure of attending a Christian Science lecture. I came away from it with a feeling of exaltation, and I realized that I had at last found the religion for which I had always been seeking. I also understood why, ever since my mother had spoken to me about Christian Science, I had been completely free from violent headaches. These have never returned.
From that moment, I gave up all the medicines which the doctor had prescribed for me, and which I considered indispensable, having taken them for a number of years. I bought the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and also began to study the Lesson-Sermons regularly.
