In Psalms we read (40:5), "Many, O Lord my God are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered." I should like to express my gratitude for some of these "wonderful works."

One is the healing of rheumatism. Before coming into Christian Science I spent several months in two hospitals in a crippled condition. This condition returned at intervals for several years. At one of these times, while in intense pain, I decided to turn unreservedly to Christian Science for help. A friend of mine, a student of Christian Science, called a practitioner. This friend then read to me for several hours. Improvement came quickly, and after live treatments I was able to leave my bed and go to the practitioner's office. In two weeks I was able to go about my duties in a normal way.

These attacks returned, however, and although I got relief I did not get permanent healing. Then one day it came to me that it was my fear of the condition that was bringing it back, and that this would have to be overcome. When the next attack came and I was burning with fever and pain, I turned to the Bible for inspiration, and it opened to the chapter telling of the three Hebrew youths in the fiery furnace. Although I had read this account many times, I now saw something in it that I had never seen before. I saw that the only thing that burned in the fire was their bonds. I knew then that only my bonds were being burned in this five of purification from false belief which I was going through.
