My introduction to Christian Science...
My introduction to Christian Science came through a friend who was spending a few days with us, and who had recently taken up the study of it. One evening out of curiosity I picked up the book she had been reading, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Before I had read the first few chanters, I was convinced it was the truth, and I determined that I would pursue the study from that day on.
It was not long before I experienced my first healing. A practitioner, who was letting me visit her to talk over points which presented difficulty, offered to help me overcome chronic constipation if I would go home and throw away all the medicines which had been my stand-by for years. I promised to do so, and she gave me a treatment. I was instantaneously healed. This was over twenty-five years ago, and there has been complete freedom ever since.
Some time after this, an unsightly wart appeared on one of my fingers, and although I had help in Christian Science it persisted for some time. I finally realized that I must work out this problem for myself. Shortly afterwards through the illumination of a passage of Scripture (Matt. 13: 6), I was able to see that because this difficulty had "no root," no basis in reality, it could not claim to be present. The wart "withered away" in a short time.
