Iowa City, Iowa (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Iowa City, located at 722 East College Street, was dedicated on Sunday morning, July 15, 1945.

In October, 1903, the church was organized and a charter granted. A building fund was started immediately.

At three different times the accumulated amount in this fund was contributed to The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts: first, when the Extension to The Mother Church was built; secondly, when the first Christian Science Publishing House was erected; and third, when money was needed for the War Relief Fund in 1917.

On March 25, 1922, a lot was purchased. On December 6, 1929, the present church building was begun, and the cornerstone was laid in March of the following year. The first service was held in the new edifice on Sunday, July 27, 1930.
