In October of 1943, while I was...

In October of 1943, while I was serving with the Army in the Aleutian Islands, my left leg was broken in three places, necessitating, according to human law, an operation to set the bone. I called for Christian Science treatment, which was given by a Christian Science Wartime Minister in the States.

Through the help of the Minister and my own work, fear was cast out of my thought after two unsuccessful attempts had been made to set the bone at one of the breaks. On each occasion the bone slipped out of place. When I informed the Minister of this experience, he told me in a letter that there would be no more slippage. These words "no more slippage" gave me so much confidence that I lost all sense of fear and worry. I realized how impossible it is for an idea of God to lose his natural state of perfection. The next attempt to set the bone was successful.

Later an X ray was taken and I was told one of the breaks was not healing very well. I again called for Science help and when an X ray was taken two weeks later it was seen that all breaks were healing perfectly. The Army doctors were surprised and pleased to see such a rapid correction of the trouble, and I was thankful for another proof of God's protecting care. Since that time I have been told by several Army doctors that the bones had knit perfectly.
