"Beautiful for situation"

In the Bible are these words (Ps. 48:2, 3): "Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. God is known in her palaces for a refuge." What about our own situation, our own thought? Is it dwelling in the holy, spiritual habitation, "the city of the great King"? The better part of the human race seeks refuge from and dominion over adverse conditions in order to gain and enjoy life more abundantly.

The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 379), "The real jurisdiction of the world is in Mind, controlling every effect and recognizing all causation as vested in divine Mind." Because all causation is "vested in divine Mind," every real effect must necessarily partake of the nature of divine Mind, good.

If our situation is to be beautiful, we must bring every thought under the jurisdiction of Mind. In order to do this, it is mandatory that our thoughts be turned to God; in other words, we are to come unto Him for a refuge, to gain the spiritual consciousness of being. Since the circumstances in which we find ourselves are determined by our thinking, would we not make for ourselves a place more "beautiful for situation" if we were more loving, kind, joyous, gracious, meek, charitable, diligent, and Christlike?
