What Is Truth?
What
is Truth? It must be understood;
There seem so much where mortal vision fails.
I would behold that which sense would exclude;
I would know how beyond sense Truth prevails.
Then one who knew made answer: Truth is God;
Omnipotent, omniscient, Love divine.
Truth is the Father's holy, chastening rod;
Truth is the Father: Love the eternal sign.
His mighty love, beyond our understanding.
In wisdom guides our wayward pilgrim feet;
The listening ear in love hears love's demanding;
The chastened heart can never know defeat.
Mind, Principle, and Life, Love infinite,
Eternal Builder, mighty endless power,
No mortal time of measured day and night,
But Thine, O Truth, eternity Thine hour.
