My first healing was of a complication of mastoiditis and lymphangitis, accompanied by high fever, which three doctors and three nurses had failed to relieve. A specialist had said an emergency operation must be performed the following day, unless I was better in the morning. I was not only better, I was completely well, for with the sudden decision to follow Mind, give up medicine and surrender to God, Truth, as taught by Christian Science, I had had an instantaneous healing. What was even more valuable, I gained a blessed awareness of divine Love's ever-presence and availability to heal all our diseases, be they physical, mental, moral, or financial. The Psalmist's words (Ps. 138:8), "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me." have been proved repeatedly.

A testimony of the foregoing healing appeared in the Sentinel in 1913. In the intervening time I have been blessed beyond computation, and have been able to obey in large measure the Bible admonition (I Thess. 5:21), "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."

I am grateful for good eyesight, hearing, and teeth; also for sound health and activity. Not that I have not been assailed at times by error, or temptations to believe in the reality of matter, but "with the temptation" has always come the "way to escape" (I Cor. 10:13) through Christian Science.
