Excerpts from Letters Concerning Christian Science Wartime Activities

[From a Christian Science Service Center]

Jesus said, "Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd" (John 10:16). Three Frenchmen recently visited this Center, and a Pole comes here regularly to study English in its atmosphere of peace and quiet. Two Yugoslavs study regularly in the Center. A fine young Polish soldier came several months ago. He took some copies of the Sentinel, and recently has come in daily to study. He is of the finest type and is growing in understanding and wisdom. He really loves the Center and said to some of the Americans there one day. "I have found something I have been seeking all my life." When he left this time, he took a copy of "Rudimental Divine Science" by Mary Baker Eddy, a Journal and also a Sentinel. As he was going he said: "When I knew that I was coming to this city my mind was very much excited by all the pleasures I would seek, but reading Mrs. Eddy's books here and the Bible has made me completely quiet inside. I have had a very happy time and am very grateful."

I notice something in common with every case that is helped by the Centers. Science opens in the minds of the men because the quiet, homey atmosphere of the Centers just touches and softens the affections.
