Ideas in Eternity
"For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabit the eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit" (Isa. 57:15). The prophet envisioned the true man as reflecting God's qualities and dwelling with "the high and lofty One" throughout eternity. Christian Science explains the spiritual nature of man and his unbroken and unbreakable relationship with his forever Father Mother, the One "altogether lovely."
The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Mary Baker Eddy, revealed to mankind the momentous fact that God is eternal Mind and man is the spiritual idea or expression of this one all knowing Mind. As enlightened Christians give up the thought of God as a finite person and accept Him as Life. Truth, Love, divine Principle, so also they must relinquish the belief in man as a physical personality and see him in the grandeur of his spiritual identity. It is liberating to understand that man is truly the reflection of his creator, the very image and likeness of God Himself, as indicated in the first chapter of the Bible.
Man is immortal, and the immortality which he expresses does not commence with the dream of death, but continues both before and after the human sense of existence. Mrs. Eddy perceived that there could be no beginning and no ending to man's being as the child of God, as the idea of immortal Life. She knew that many realities unseen to mortal sight are present here and now, and will be discerned through increased spiritual understanding. She writes in "Miscellaneous Writings" (pp. 60. 61), "Every material belief hints the existence of spiritual reality; and if mortals are instructed in spiritual things, it will be seen that material belief, in all its manifestations, reversed, will be found the type and representative of verities priceless, eternal, and just at hand."
