From the moment I first learned...
From the moment I first learned of Christian Science I had a desire to know more, and I have since learned that "desire is prayer," as Mrs. Eddy says on page 1 of Science and Health.
Almost twenty years ago I experienced my first healing through the work of a practitioner. I was healed of a very severe headache, and I owe unending gratitude to this faithful practitioner for her loving help during my early study of Christian Science.
A few months later a cyclone completely destroyed our home, which we had just purchased, and in which we had invested our entire savings. Although I had experienced a healing through the work of a Christian Science practitioner I had not attended church. I had been reared in a very religious home and had attended Sunday school and church regularly but had never felt satisfied with the teachings of the church of which I was a member. I had always longed for something which I did not receive.
