When at one time I accepted an invitation to attend a free lecture on Christian Science, I was unaware of what God had prepared for those who seek Him. I had graduated from college and was a professional pharmacist whose aim was to become a physician. But the truth and logic, together with the Christ-understanding expressed by the lecturer, awakened me to the fact that this Science, the Science of Christ, the truth about God and man, was more powerful than all material means for healing the sick. The next day I began to read the Bible, together with the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and other Christian Science literature. I continued this study for a year; all the while I remained at work.

Later, when living in another city. I took my stand for Christian Science, and it was at this time that my financial need was met by a substantial raise in salary. I had lost my voice, but after two treatments was healed. In a month I laid aside glasses that I had worn constantly for five years. During this healing I remained at work, and because doubt and material thinking were predominant, I had help in Christian Science.

These sentences from page 454 of our textbook have been a constant guide to me: "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way. Right motives give pinions to thought, and strength and freedom to speech and action." I enlisted in the Army as an aviation cadet. My sister was against this because she knew that I had worn glasses and had had heart trouble. She thought I would be very much disappointed when the Army turned me down, as it had previously done while I was in college. You can imagine her surprise when I passed the physical examination. She has been studying Christian Science since that day.
