Invoking the Power of God

In these days of stress and tension it is advisable to go quietly apart as often as possible for a little while to consider things which are spiritual. To spend some time during each day alone with God is to experience refreshing recreation.

It is also helpful to ask oneself a few straight questions: How have I reached my present position? Who and what is it that has cared for me until today? Can this care possibly be withdrawn? And thoughtful consideration of the foregoing questions will lead to another one: Have I been sufficiently grateful for the constant care of divine Love?

A study of some of the Bible stories reveals the fact that whenever mankind has placed itself trustingly in the care of God, the protection of the Most High has proved to be instantly available. One has but to read the inspiring accounts of Moses, Joshua, Gideon, and others, and to consider the power of God which they could invoke on behalf of their people in times of danger, to realize that with God "is no variableness, neither shadow of turning," and that this same power which has always been accessible to humanity is capable of being called on today.
