Did It Seem Strange to You?
Beloved,
did it seem strange to you,
The fiery trial, and the angry sea?
Were you dismayed when all alone
You knelt one night in deep humility?
Nay, not dismayed!
Trustful and unafraid you waited;
Quietly you sang throughout the long, dark night,
Till with the dawn the angelic message reached you,
And a new world was flooded with His light.
Humbly you thanked God, joyously you rose to serve Him,
Greeting the new day with wondering, Love-lit eyes;
Satisfied to know that Love's tender lessons
Are but His angels in disguise.
No strange thing happened to you, beloved!
