God, Not Men, Governs Every Man
To understand that the true individuality of everyone is the beloved son of God, as the Bible teaches and Christian Science inculcates, frees one from the desire to dominate others and also from domination by others.
The first or correct statement of creation in the first chapter of Genesis depicts man as God's image and likeness. The second record, the mythical or mistaken view of creation, includes evil as well as good. Evil is supposed to tempt men to believe that through their acceptance of evil as a reality they will become gods. We read. "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." This impossible proposition carries with it a spurious promise of power which the serpent, evil, can never fulfill. The mesmeric suggestion that a mortal is an independent demigod, and is able to govern or bring evil to others has persisted to this day.
Many of the evils recorded in history and apparent today are the outgrowth of the false belief that mortals can be gods, that is, controllers of or interferers with individual rights, and this error is supported and maintained by all who ignorantly consent to this falsity. God never for one instant surrenders His office of sole creator and eternal governor of man and the universe.
