Paean

Let us rejoice, my brothers, for that Love
Remains supreme all earthly claims above.
Let us rejoice that man is safe and free
By royal charter for eternity.

Let us rejoice, my sisters, in that Love
Relieves our trials, gently, as the dove
Alighting on our grief, our faithless gloom,
And for its own sweet comfort making room.

Children, rejoice, because your purer sight
Transmutes to beauty's day the starless night
Of worldly sense, so that, undimmed, you find
The fair and lovely universe of Mind.

Rejoice, O pioneers, well tried and true,
Uplifters of the many, noble few;
Yours is the rich reward, the priceless balm,
Of Christly solace and of Christly calm.

O joyous resurrection here on earth,
O Truth revealed, affording men rebirth,
Now by Thy light our hearts retrieve and prove
The deep and all-sufficing peace of Love!
