I am thankful that when a baby, through the loving help of a practitioner I was healed of convulsions. Later, because of an aunt's healing of invalidism, my mother sent my sister and me to the Christian Science Sunday School.

In my teens I drifted away from Christian Science, seeking material knowledge, although when troubled I always read Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy.

In 1935, when I was very much discouraged and could see no reason for living, the truth of Christian Science unfolded with so much illumination that I was healed of nearly all depressed thinking, and now I know we all live for the one purpose of glorifying God. The use of cigarettes, coffee, social drinking, profanity, and the playing of cards ceased overnight when I greatly desired church membership. This proved to me that, as Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 57), "Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifying, and elevating it."
