"It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony," says Mrs. Eddy on page 390 of Science and Health.

For three weeks, symptoms of inflammatory rheumatism in my legs and hands kept me inside the house. The first two days I used crutches but had to give them up when my hands became swollen. An experienced practitioner gave me treatment during those trying days.

Frequently, in those weeks, I found in my study of the Bible and of our Leader's works that ideas which I had passed over lightly in previous years now unfolded to uplift consciousness and counteract suggestions of mortal mind. Gradually my limbs became normal, but lingering pain and weakness persisted. Just as soon as I felt able to walk a few blocks, I went to the practitioner's office feeling somewhat grateful, but a little doubtful about my healing being complete. I was told of an article available at the Christian Science Reading Rooms in a pamphlet entitled "The Smell of Fire." This I procured, and read and pondered it until my consciousness was cleared of the belief in the necessity for convalescence. I then went about my usual business without hesitation. Harmony was restored when I ceased believing that this ailment was the worst in my experience and possibly would take more time to heal.
