I turned to Christian Science in...
I turned to Christian Science in behalf of a dear one whom I was trying to locate and help. I am grateful to say that after a long search Christian Science united us. For years I had longed for Truth, and felt that Christian Science was the religion I wanted.
Knowing the truth proves the unreality of error. I am most grateful that when we pray aright false traits of character are exposed and destroyed.
I have been instantly healed of burns; and a thorn which imbedded itself in the flesh of my finger above the nail finally worked down to the tip without any pain or infection. A desire to love and bless one of God's children, no matter what mortal mind would have me believe about her, healed me of a number of physical difficulties. Migraine, from which I had suffered since childhood, was overcome without my knowing that the healing had taken place until, one Wednesday evening during the service, I realized that I had been healed for a long time. Six years ago, influenza was instantly and successfully denied by my husband, and in a few hours I was able to be up and about. Winter colds have become a thing of the past. That my husband has become interested in Christian Science, and that there is harmony is our home, are causes for inestimable gratitude.
While I was a guest for a day at the Christian Science Benevolent Association on the Pacific Coast, through earnest prayer, discord of ten years' standing between myself and a relative began to disappear. This problem seemed one of the hardest to solve, and many times my efforts and good intentions had failed. This statement from pages 308 and 309 of "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mrs. Eddy was finally put into practice with healing effects: "I earnestly advise all Christian Scientists to remove from their observation or study the personal sense of any one, and not to dwell in thought upon their own or others' corporeality, either as good or evil."
During the early part of my study of Christian Science there seemed to be much confusion, and many difficulties were slowly worked out through my own reading and application of the truth as I understood it. Often I continued in the old way until Love forced me into new ways, the lesson was learned, and I was willing to do the right thing. For anyone so harassed may I say this: Take heart, for with prayer, love, patience, sincerity, perseverance, and obedience to God's law, and with the help of the Church Manual by Mrs. Eddy, you too can work out any problem, for God worketh with you.
For all the good that Christian Science is bringing into the world I am profoundly grateful.—(Mrs.) Florence E. Livingston, Sonora, California.
