Words are inadequate to express my sincere gratitude for the innumerable blessings which have come to me through the study of Christian Science. I took up the study of this Science because of a desire to gain a better understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him, and not for a physical healing. I am deeply grateful, however, for one that I received while reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

A little over three years before I began to study Christian Science I was in an automobile accident, and received injuries to my spine which resulted in a nervous condition, severe headaches, and anemia. I was advised to see an osteopath, and had treatments several times a week. As long as I continued these treatments I was able with great difficulty to continue my business activities, but if they were allowed to lapse for more than a day or two I found myself in a state of collapse. At the end of three years the doctor told me that if I wished to continue with my work I should have to have these treatments regularly for the remainder of my life.

About the same time that I received this discouraging news, I experienced a deep sorrow through the loss of a dear friend. In my extremity I remembered that someone had given me a copy of Science and Health. I started to read this book, and became so interested that I read all night. The next morning I went to work feeling refreshed and uplifted. I continued to read, and at the end of two weeks' time realized that I had not called the doctor and was perfectly free from the distressing physical condition, of which there has been no recurrence.
