For the past quarter of a century Christian Science has been my only physician. During that time I have had many conclusive proofs of the healing efficacy of Christian Science when it is rightly applied.

One experience which I had about six years ago I should like to relate in the hope that it may be of some benefit to those who are confronted with the problem of social drinking.

As manager of a branch of a large company I was invited to go with the rest of the branch managers and officials of the company to a convention in a large eastern city. Upon our arrival I found that all the companies from which I had been purchasing supplies had rooms either in the same hotel in which we were quartered or in the adjoining hotel. And in every suite of rooms they had a special bar for entertaining their guests. It was necessary that, together with the head of our firm and other branch managers, I visit each company in its rooms, even though the call was more of a social nature than business. I held to Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health (p. 385), "Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself." And I was very grateful when, in almost every instance, I was offered nothing stronger than ginger ale, although liquor was flowing freely.
