Over twenty years ago I was stricken with an alarming and painful malady, which threatened my life. Notwithstanding the fact that I was having medical treatment, I steadily grew worse. When I was about ready to die, Christian Science found me and brought me back to a life of usefulness and joyful Christian endeavor.

Since that grand day, having put my shoulder to the plow, I have found myself progressively associating with happier, better, and more successful men and women than I had ever known before—a natural sequence. And today I find myself in the glad company of working Christian Scientists who are humbly, sincerely, and prayerfully striving to demonstrate what they know of Christian Science.

In Christian Science, words bring to the human understanding ideas of divine power. Christian Scientists are daily learning and making use of the healing and redemptive power of the Word of God. The first tenet of Christian Science may be found on page 497 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy: "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life."
