All Disease Is Curable
Many persons, especially those who are medically educated, regard some kinds of disease as incurable. Christian Scientists do not, however, agree with this belief. They recall that in the Gospel of Matthew it is recorded that "Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people." And since they regard Jesus as the Way-shower, they believe that as his followers they have a right to do as he did, that is, heal "all manner of disease" through the power of Christ, Truth, which the Master taught and demonstrated.
Practically every Christian Science practitioner can recall cases previously pronounced incurable by medical doctors, which were healed through the power of God as it is revealed in Christian Science. Other persons have learned from testimonies given in Wednesday evening meetings in Christian Science churches, and from those published in the Christian Science periodicals, that cases of so-called incurable disease have been thoroughly and permanently healed through Christian Science treatment. On page 162 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says, "Working out the rules of Science in practice, the author has restored health in cases of both acute and chronic disease in their severest forms." And she continues on the same page, "Christian Science heals organic disease as surely as it heals what is called functional, for it requires only a fuller understanding of the divine Principle of Christian Science to demonstrate the higher rule."
Since Christ Jesus healed "all manner of disease" during his ministry, and since similar healings are resulting today through the demonstration of Christian Science, it may be stated without fear of successful contradiction that there is no such thing as an incurable disease. Therefore, those who seem temporarily to be suffering from a disease ordinarily regarded as incurable, need not despair. On the contrary, they should be encouraged to expect healing because it is being demonstrated today, as in the time of Jesus, that God's grace is sufficient to meet any and every human need.
