It would be impossible for me to enumerate all the blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science. I should like to express gratitude for at least two outstanding healings that have been a source of inspiration to me.

When I was a very new student of Christian Science, my seven-months-old baby had pneumonia, further complicated by double mastoiditis in the most severe form. I had been a medical nurse, and although I was having Christian Science treatment, I became very fearful and called in a physician, who informed me that the child was past all medical aid and too weak to undergo an operation. This physician was very kind, doing all he knew how to do; he called several times daily, and was surprised each time to find the baby still with us. This continued for a week.

On Sunday morning my husband was attending church and I was alone with the baby, listening to the service over the radio, when I realized that if I could not bring up the child to believe in God as Christian Science teaches, acknowledging Him as the only physician, I would rather give her up. I felt that I was a very poor Christian Scientist if I could not trust God in time of need. When my husband returned we dismissed the doctor, and again asked the practitioner for help. This she was glad to give, and reminded me of faithful Abraham, who placed his only son upon the altar. This time I was ready to put my baby in God's hands. A Christian Science nurse was called, because my thinking was not clear enough to be with the little one. When I awoke early in the morning I found the baby happy and free, drinking her bottle of milk, the first nourishment in a week.
