I wish to give this testimony of my healing experiences in Christian Science as an expression of sincere gratitude for the renewal of life which this religion has brought to me.

Christian Science came to my wife, and through her to me, in a time of great confusion and sorrow, as an answer to our desire to find a religion which could give us true peace and comfort. One day my wife, riding in the subway, glanced into a Christian Science Sentinel, which a woman sitting beside her was reading. She expressed her interest in this religion, and the Scientist took the opportunity to give her some of the good messages which Christian Science has for mankind. Her selfless desire to help us sowed the good seed in our consciousness.

I was then engaged in some chemical development concerning tobacco, and had to smoke at frequent intervals and in quick succession for the purpose of carrying out tests. Suffering from an exceedingly weak heart, I was overcome during such a test by an overdose of nicotine and collapsed. I was at home at the time. My wife, irrespective of the material evidence, for I was seemingly without breath or pulse, read the ninety-first Psalm aloud, while my son called up a Christian Science practitioner. Within a short time I regained consciousness and felt all right almost immediately. The next morning I awoke without the least aftereffect. The experience prompted me to discontinue the tobacco work, and at the same time I gave up smoking and the use of alcoholic drinks.
