I first heard of Christian Science through a relative, who is an earnest student. Later on a friend, who said she had been healed of Bright's disease through this religion, lent me her copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Although I read the book through, I did not seem ready to understand and accept the truths it presented, but I am grateful to say that the seed of Truth was planted. Some time later I realized how much I needed to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, so I asked my relative to show me how to do so. From then on, I have fully relied upon Christian Science to help me solve my problems and for healing of physical disease. I am very grateful for the help I have received from the study of Christian Science and from loving practitioners, who have been very patient with me. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. I have received many blessings through my attendance at the church services and the opportunities to serve in the church activities.

Formerly I had been under the constant care of different doctors, medical, surgical, homeopathic, osteopathic, and chiropractic. I had many so-called remedies stocked up in my medicine chest One of my first healings, which seemed outstanding because I did not depend upon any material remedy to help me, was of grippe. One morning I was not able to report at the office. I telephoned a practitioner, whose name I had received previously from a friend. In two hours the condition responded to her treatment, which was my first proof that Christian Science heals.

One evening I experienced an instantaneous healing of a badly sprained ankle, when my right foot was turned at an angle. I was alone and was not able to walk. I realized that this was an opportunity to use what I knew of Christian Science. Previously, I had memorized "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468), so I repeated this, and before I had completed the entire statement, my foot and ankle turned painlessly into the right position. It seemed like a miracle to me, and perhaps the material side of this demonstration was overstressed. On the third night after this experience, while walking to church, I tripped and turned this same ankle slightly. It pained so badly that I could hardly walk to church. I am grateful to say that I managed to get there, and thought no more about the ankle until I was on my way home, and found that it pained no more. This proof of God's loving care has been a great help to me when I have been tempted to be discouraged over a problem that was not quickly solved. The experience was clear evidence that Christian Science heals by revealing to us what God is and what is our relation to Him.
