"The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 1).

Twenty-six years ago a Christian Science treatment healed me of leakage of the heart and stomach trouble. I could not digest food without medical help, and the doctor said, "Not an organ in your body is performing its proper functions." It also freed me from the use of alcoholic stimulants. I had no faith in Christian Science treatment, and knew nothing about it; I only wished to please relatives who asked me to try it, although they were not of that faith.

Shortly after this experience, neuralgia was healed in one absent treatment. Three years later a physician and an operating surgeon pronounced my condition acute appendicitis; and the surgeon said, "Send him to the hospital at once before he has time to think it over!" Coming out of the doctor's office I remembered a friend living near who was a Christian Science practitioner. I asked her for treatment, and was healed overnight. More attacks of the same trouble, in a period of perhaps two years, impelled me to study the Lesson-Sermons, as given in the Christian Science Quarterly, and the Manual of The Mother Church. Thus was awakened in me an interest in the Christian Science periodicals, including the daily newspaper. In a short time fear vanished and my healing was complete.
