My gratitude for all the great blessings which Christian Science has brought into my life is deeper than can be expressed.

Many years ago a growth appeared on my face. I went to a physician, who urged me to have it removed at once. My husband did not approve of an operation, for not long before this he had lost his only sister through one. He himself was very ill at the time, although many doctors had lovingly tried to help him. My niece, who was a hospital nurse, insisted that I see a specialist. He, too, advised me to have the growth removed at once.

We made arrangements for the operation. On the day before the event was to have taken place, I met an old friend who had become a Christian Scientist, and she persuaded me not to have the operation but to try Science instead. My husband wrote to another friend, who once had told me to wire to her, if at any time my husband wanted help, and she would explain his case to a practitioner. When my husband wrote, however, he did not say he wanted help for me, so she naturally thought it was for himself, and at once asked a practitioner to help him. She did not write to us for seven weeks. At the time my husband wrote the letter he was very ill, but in about two weeks he suddenly felt much better. At the end of seven weeks we received a letter from the friend saying that she had explained my husband's case to a practitioner, and that she knew he was well. She was right. I now felt that the time had come for me to know the truth and be free, too. We both started to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I also received help, but found that I had to work out my own salvation; and when I was obedient, and not before, I got my healing. One evening I noticed that the growth was very much smaller, and the next evening it had completely disappeared.
