I have had many convincing proofs of God's protection and presence through the study and application of Christian Science, and with heartfelt gratitude I wish to give the following testimony.

My first healing was of neuritis, during the winter of 1919. I became suddenly ill one day and was not able to use my right arm. My condition was such that I was able to rest very little day or night; therefore our family doctor was called in to see me. He gave me treatments for some time, and when there was no improvement in my condition, he suggested that I consult a specialist, which I did. Treatments were given for several weeks, but no improvement was noticed. During all this time I suffered severely; so our family doctor was called again. I told him that I had had no relief and asked if there was not something else that he could suggest for me to try. He stated that he knew nothing more to do, since everything had been done that he could think of, and that my case looked as though it would be a long-drawn-out one.

Several years prior to this, a cousin in Chicago had been healed of tuberculosis through the application of Christian Science. She had sent my mother some Science literature, and I remembered reading testimonies of healings in The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel. After all material means had failed to heal me, the thought kept coming to me, Try Christian Science. "Man's extremity is God's opportunity."
