Christian Scientists enjoy truly laughable incidents, but Christian Science, the Science of Christianity, is scarcely fair subject matter for the jester.

However, let it be said, Christian Science has long proved itself immensely practical in all human affairs, and in reconstructing the health, morals, and economic well-being of countless beneficiaries. This has been effected through the understanding of primitive Christianity, which includes the healing of sickness and disease, as well as of sin.

The genuine Christian Scientist will be found striving with some success to realize the Christian ideal epitomized as follows by Mary Baker Eddy in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 114), and he is as happy as can be in this Christian endeavor: "Christian Science teaches: Owe no man; be temperate; abstain from alcohol and tobacco; be honest, just, and pure; cast out evil and heal the sick; in short, Do unto others as ye would have others do to you."
