I am informed that a minister recently conducted a series of meetings in Exeter, Missouri, and made some mistaken remarks about Christian Science and its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy. Will you please permit me to use your columns for the purpose of correcting this misinformation for your readers.

The statements made, as reported by a correspondent, indicate a lack of acquaintance with Christian Science. The claim that Christian Science denies the atonement is refuted by the fact that Mary Baker Eddy devotes an entire chapter to the subject, "Atonement and Eucharist," in the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

In contrast to the attack, as reported, the message Mrs. Eddy has given through Christian Science is one of good will to all mankind. Interest in the subject has been brought about to a large extent by the healing of both sin and sickness through its ministrations. Many thousands of grateful people can bear testimony to the truth of this statement. Such benefits to mankind are recognized as a Christian service; for they exemplify the words of Jesus, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."
