"For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light...
"For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light." How precious were the words, "Now are ye light in the Lord," when Christian Science came into my life! What a sense of peace, freedom, and spiritual joy they brought! Before I learned of Christian Science my life was so full of mistakes that at one time I tried to commit suicide. So I was thankful to learn of God as Principle. The understanding of this has transformed my character to a great extent. Gone are the periods of acute depression, the acting on impulse instead of from reason, and I am no longer swayed this way and that by human affections.
In the care and training of two children Christian Science is meeting every need. Measles, whooping cough, and chicken pox have been quickly overcome. Before and during childbirth it was an invaluable help. My little son has helped to heal me several times, one healing being that of grippe. Acute neuralgia vanished immediately after I had talked for a few moments over the telephone with a practitioner. A severe pain in my shoulder left on my declaring that nothing could separate me from God's love, and also reading all the testimonies in the Sentinel of that week with the idea of learning more about God's loving care for His children. A misunderstanding which had prevented me from communicating with a very dear friend for six years was beautifully healed by the faithful work of a practitioner. I am most grateful for the moral courage gained through the study of Christian Science, which enables me to face whatever problem may present itself.
Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 201), "Truth makes a new creature, in whom old things pass away and 'all things are become new.'" As this is being proved continuously in my experience, there is rejoicing and gratitude within me.—(Mrs.) Molly Alison McMackin, Port Washington, Long Island, New York.
