Faithfulness in Little Things
How few people realize the importance of taking account of little things! Details are frequently regarded as too trifling to be worthy of notice, but so long as we are careless or negligent over details we can never attain to perfection in any direction.
It is surely the desire and aim of every Christian Scientist to reach the highest standard possible in every righteous line of endeavor. Great achievements usually result from faithfulness over little things. It is only step by step that we arrive at the mountain top; and it is only by faithful application of our understanding of Truth that we overcome mountains of difficulty, and gain the higher understanding requisite to reach the summit of demonstration.
In Luke we read, "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much." Many instances could be given where lack of faithfulness, or exactness, regarding details has marred an otherwise great accomplishment. As an example of this we may consider an orchestra. Unless every instrument is in tune there cannot be perfect harmony and unity of tone, even though the instruments may be the best procurable and the musicians' rendering of the music accurate in every respect.
