Christian Science was first introduced into my father's home about the year 1889. At that time a very dear sister was suffering from a so-called incurable disease, and was given but a short time to live by the physicians who attended her. Her healing was brought about by the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. As a result of this healing other members of the family were healed in the same way.
Being a very small child at this time, I was much impressed by this proof of God's power. The Bible was read in a new light. I was told that God is Love and that He is ever present, not somewhere up in the sky; also, that He heals disease. During the years that have passed it has been my blessed privilege to prove that God does indeed heal the sick.
While I never had the privilege of attending Sunday school, I began to read the Bible and Science and Health at an early age. Many times I would become discouraged and think I never would understand them. Then I would read some passage from the Bible that would encourage me to press on. Finally I realized that I was studying only half-heartedly; that I was not seeking God with all my heart.
