With sincere gratitude I testify to the good that Christian Science has brought into my experience. It has meant healing and protection in times of physical trouble, it has brought harmony into my work, and bettered my living conditions. Many times problems of lack have been solved, and I have enjoyed spiritual growth and the opportunity to help others.
Especially am I grateful to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who established the periodicals and the international daily newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, as one means of carrying on her great work. Sometimes, it seems, Christian Scientists themselves do not realize what a powerful influence for good the Monitor is. As a journalist, I read and loved the Monitor long before I knew Christian Science as a religion. My reading of the metaphysical articles and other features influenced me to turn to Christian Science when an emergency of illness arose in my family. Without doubt many others have been led to Christian Science in a similar way.
Taking up the study of Science with the sole idea of helping my mother, I soon realized that here was the thing for which I had been searching, however unconsciously, all my life. My mother was healed of many ailments, including a disease diagnosed as incurable by a doctor; and my own experience has been beautifully enriched. Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 307), "God gives you His spiritual, ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." I have demonstrated the truth of this many times, and proved that money is never the real source of supply. Through unfoldment, one learns that "our daily bread" is both from Love and of Love. No problem is too great or too small to trust to God, and always help is ready and waiting when our work has been done properly. I began studying Christian Science five years ago and consider it a privilege to belong to The Mother Church and a branch church, and to teach in the Sunday school.
